What this site is

This site keeps score for Vermont high school tennis. Coaches and athletics directors use it to enter line-ups and record match results, and anyone can look up a score or the standings without signing in.

What we hold about a player

• name
• graduation year, which is how grade level is worked out
• school, team and where they played in the line-up
• match results and scores
• any code violation called during a match under VPA rules

That is the whole list. There is no date of birth, no address, no phone number, no email address, no student ID, no photograph, and nothing about health, grades or school discipline.

A player's information is entered by their coach. Players do not have accounts here and are not asked to create one.

Who can see it

Anyone, for scores. The scoreboard, the standings and a team's results are public, the same way a printed programme or a newspaper box score is. That includes player names.

Coaches and athletics directors can see their own team's roster and enter results. Administrators can see all of it in order to run the system.

Volunteers keeping score at a match see the names of the players on the courts they are scoring, for that day only, through a link a coach gives them.

Search engines

The pages that name individual players ask search engines not to list them. You can read them, share the link, and open it any time; they are simply kept out of search results, so a player's match record does not become something a stranger finds by typing their name into Google years later.

We cannot control what a newspaper does with a result a coach sends them, or what someone else republishes.

What we do not do

• No advertising, anywhere, of any kind.
• No analytics, no tracking pixels, no cookies that follow you to other sites. Nothing on these pages calls out to another company, so no one else learns that you visited.
• We do not sell, rent or share anyone's information.
• We do not build a profile about a player and do not use anything here to predict, rank or target anyone.
• We do not ask for anything we do not need to keep score.

The only cookie set for a visitor who does not sign in is the one that remembers you are keeping score at a match, if a coach has given you a scoring link. It expires at the end of that day.

How long it is kept

Results and rosters are kept from season to season, because that is what makes past scores and standings mean anything. A school can ask for a player's information to be corrected or removed.

If you want something changed or removed

Start with the school. Your school's athletics director or the team's coach can correct a name or a result directly, and the school is the right place to raise anything about what may be published about a student. Schools have obligations under the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) about student records, including the right to inspect them and to ask for corrections.

Your school can reach the operator directly if something needs changing here rather than in the school's own records.

Who runs this

This site is operated by JHL, LLC on behalf of participating schools. Coaches and athletics directors accept a set of obligations before they can use it, which you can read in the terms of use.
